This jewel is protected by the mountains of Salkantay and Humantay at 4,200 meters (13,779 ft.) is located in the Vilcabamba mountain range in the Andes of southern Peru in the district of Mollepata (Anta).

With a mystical feel, the lagoon is visited by “shamans” and tourists from all over the world to leave offerings to the Pachamama, deity that represents Mother Earth in the QUECHUA – “INKA” culture. By placing stones, they offer an offering to the Pachamama thanking her for having successfully reached the lagoon.

  • 4:45 to 05:00 am. Pick up from hotel in tourist transport "minivan"
  • 5:00 am. Departure from Cusco.
  • 8:00 am. Arrival to Mollepata.
  • 8:10 am. Breakfast in Mollepata.
  • 09:00 am. Departure to Soraypampa.
  • 10:00 am. Arrival and start of the walk.
  • 11:30 am. Arrival to the Huamantay Lagoon, explanation of the guide and free time.
  • 12:10 pm. Return to Soraypampa camp.
  • 1:30 pm. Arrival at Soraypampa camp.
  • 2:30 pm. Buffet lunch in Molletapa.
  • 3:30 pm. Return in mobility to the city of Cusco.
  • 6:00 am – 6:30 pm. Arrival to Cusco.
  • End of the tour in Plaza San Francisco.

The day before the tour, we will visit you at your hotel around 8:00 P.M. to give you all the necessary instructions and explain the entire travel itinerary to Laguna Humantay with recommendations as to what to bring on the trip.

We will pick you up from your hotel from 04:45 to 05:00 AM, then continue with a 3 hours tour, where you will enjoy picturesque landscapes and the lush Apurimac River until we reach the town of Mollepata where we will enjoy of a delicious breakfast typical of the area.

After breakfast, we will return to our van to continue our tour of the beautiful landscapes until we reach the town of Soraypampa, where we will start our trek. On the tour, you will have many irresistible photo opportunities for stunning pictures

From Soraypampa to the Humantay Lagoon is about 1.2 miles, approximately 1:30 to 2 hours of walking. You will be able to see on one side, the mountains of Humantay at 13,779 ft and on the other side, the mountains of Salkantay. At Humantay Lagoon, we will have about 1 hour of free time to rest, take pictures, and appreciate the landscape. Here our guide will give us a demonstration of the use of the coca leaf and a small offering to the "Apus".

After this beautiful adventure, we will descend to Soraypampa, where we find our transport. continuing the trip we will go to Mollepata where we will enjoy our delicious buffet lunch. After that we will return to Cusco, arriving in the city around 6:30 pm. This is how our hike to Humantay Lagoon full day ends.
