This tour is highly recommended to visit the Inka city of Machupicchu. The first day you will visit the most impressive places of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas and in the afternoon you will approach the Ollantaytambo train station, to board the comfortable train to Machupicchu town (also called Aguas Calientes). Along the route you will see small villages and the entrance to the famous Inca Trail. Arriving at Machupicchu, our staff will wait for you to transfer you to your hotel.

The second day after a good rest, you will take a guided visit to the wonderful Inka city of Machu Picchu.

(*) If you want to climb the Waynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain, make your reservation requesting the inclusion of the additional entrance to the Mountain you prefer.

Day 1

Cusco - Sacred Valley - Machupicchu

At 8.30am, we´ll pick you up from your hotel and take you to the start of the tour. We travel from Cusco toward the Sacred Valley. We descend 1500 feet to the valley, where we find the sacred Urubamba River and the village of Pisac. In Pisac. Here we stop to visit a traditional market (30 minutes), where you can buy some local souvenirs.

Then, we will go to the archeological site of Pisac, where we going to have a guided visit (one hour approx.) to know this Inka town, in which we will see temples, houses, altars, caves and the famous “Intihuatana” solar observatory.

We continue towards Urubamba, where we stop for lunch (45 minutes). Then we will continue another 30 minutes by bus until we reach Ollantaytambo, where we will also visit this Inka archaeological site, which shows an amazing temple of the sun, huge blocks of rock perfectly carved and polished, stone water fountains, stairs and terraces.

After the visit to the archaeological site, you will approach to the Ollantaytambo train station, to board the train that will take you to the town of Machupicchu (Aguas Calientes). Upon arrival, our staff will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

Day 2

Machupicchu - Cusco
After breakfast, you will go to the bus stop to go up to the checkpoint where you will register your entrance and start the guided tour to the Inka city. During the two-hour tour, the guide will give you detailed information about Machupicchu, its history and other information about the Inka culture. Then you will return to the town, and you will have free time to have lunch and visit the place At the scheduled time for your return, you will approach the station, to board the return train to Ollantaytambo, and then the bus to the city of Cusco (the bus will arrive near the main square).

WHAT NOT TO BRING?

  • Tripods are not allowed.
  • Professional cameras are not allowed. Permits for professional cameras are obtained in advance at the Culture office, so we recommend not bringing a professional-looking camera.
  • You cannot come to Machu Picchu with your travel backpack. Only small models. You can leave your larger backpack in your hotel of Aguas Calientes town.
  • Canes are not allowed unless the person needs them (without spikes).
  • Only small folding umbrellas are allowed, so avoid carrying a large umbrella with spikes.
